The best complications are the least useful ones. When was the last time you actually used a moon phase indicator? A minute repeater? Hell, I think you’d have a hard time recalling the times you’ve actually used a chronograph. Atleast I can’t. Does that make them any less neat? Of course not. After all, the time-telling functionalities of a watch kind of diminish as top priorities when you start spending thousands and thousands on a timepiece. That’s my personal opinion, anyway.
...Read More...As BaselWorld starts tomorrow, the entire blogosphere has exploded with news and pictures of some of the watches that will be on display. This mean trying to secure exclusivity to basically anything is pretty pointless, but still, there are some watches that definitely are catching eyes. Whatever happens, something tells me that somewhere on the American west coast, a certain someone is having trouble keeping the drool from dripping onto his nice tiled floors, and that this certain someone will probably share his thoughts on the event within the coming few weeks.

Well, not much to say that hasn’t been said already by now. Trying to get an overview over at the TZ Rolex forum is nigh impossible, but the reactions seem to be mixed. The new “LV” seems a bit too kitsch to me. I was never an Explorer fan (II and Steve McQueen notwithstanding) so I can’t really comment on that one. What’s I’m more surprised about is how unoffended I am by the diamond-marker blue Sub. Surprisingly alright, and I’m decidedly anti-diamond usually.
